Lisa captures the sweeping landscapes of the American west.
Lisa McShane spent much of her formative years looking at the world from the backseat of a car. While her mother was from a large wheat farm in Connell, Washington and her father was raised on a farm on the Columbia River, his career was in the Air Force. The family lived in many places and traveled extensively.
Lisa’s formal art education began with two years of intensive private painting lessons in Germany, followed by a double major in oil painting and metal sculpture at Sonoma State University in California.
She then spent her career in environmental policy, community organizing and politics. She lives with her family in an 1893 house in Bellingham, Washington where she paints full time.
Her richly layered oil paintings reflect her passion for the land and depth of experience.
